Database Error Messages

ORA-59103

Either string Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates are enabled but not present in Oracle binary, or string Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates are present in Oracle binary but not enabled.

Cause

This error could occur if a Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Update was being rolled back while another Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Update was being applied in the same session without restarting the cluster.

Another reason for this error was that a completely unrelated node was trying to join the cluster but was incompatible with the enabled Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates in this cluster.

Action

Check if there are Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates that are enabled and present in the Oracle binary and are being rolled back and if there are Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates present in the Oracle binary but are not enabled.

If yes, rollback the Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates that are present in the Oracle binary but not enabled and restart the cluster. Once the rollback completes after restarting the cluster, the new Oracle RAC Two-Stage Rolling Updates can be applied.

If a completely unrelated node is trying to join the cluster, find out why that node was started in this cluster.
