2.1.1 Oracle Exadata X11M Support
Oracle Exadata System Software release 25.1.0 introduces support for the Oracle Exadata X11M system family.
Exadata X11M is the fourth generation of system hardware based on RoCE Network Fabric and builds on the outstanding capabilities of previous models. Highlights include:
-
Exadata X11M database servers and storage servers are equipped with the latest 5th generation AMD EPYC™ CPUs, which provide more processing power and are more energy efficient than previous generations.
-
Exadata X11M database servers include advanced power management capabilities that enable users to reduce power consumption by:
-
Switching off unused database server CPU cores.
-
Specifying an overall power consumption target for the database server.
-
Using a low power mode when low usage is anticipated, such as overnight or during the weekend.
-
-
Exadata X11M database servers and storage servers are equipped with high-performance 6400MT/s DDR5 DRAM, providing increased performance for memory-based operations.
-
Exadata X11M storage servers are equipped with PCIe Gen 5 (PCIe 5.0) performance-optimized flash devices, delivering increased performance for Exadata Smart Flash Cache and Exadata Smart Flash Log.
In addition to the overall system improvements, Exadata X11M introduces new system options, providing customers with more choice and flexibility:
-
New Exadata X11M-Z database and storage servers make Exadata accessible for smaller applications and databases while delivering legendary Exadata performance and scalability.
-
All Exadata X11M systems are offered as flexible configurations, starting with at least two database servers and three storage servers. Customers can start with an economical and flexible configuration using Exadata X11M-Z database and storage servers. Later, they can expand the system by adding more X11M-Z servers or larger X11M servers. As a result, the fixed Eighth Rack configuration is not required and is no longer available.
