1.10 Overview of the dbmsrv Service
Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 12.1.2.1.0:
- The database nodes run the Management Server (MS). Previously MS ran only on the storage nodes.
- The database nodes run a service called Database Machine Service
(
dbmsrv
). This service is based on the MS that runs on the storage servers and provides enhanced management capabilities to the database nodes. - Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software
release 12.1.2.1.2, Management Server (MS) on the database nodes does not use
sudo
. Consequently, no sudoers configuration is required.
To manage the Management Server on the database node service in Oracle Exadata System Software release 12.1.2.1.0 and later, specific operating system users and groups are added.
The users and their IDs are:
- dbmsvc: 12137
- dbmadmin: 12138
- dbmmonitor: 12139
The groups and their IDs are:
- dbmsvc: 11137
- dbmadmin: 11138
- dbmmonitor: 11139
- dbmusers: 11140
You can modify the OS user IDs for this service as described in the following topics:
- Changing User IDs and Group IDs for dbmsrv
- Manually Changing User IDs and Group IDs for dbmsrv
Prior to Oracle Exadata System Software releases 18.1.12 and 19.1.2 when themigrate_ids.sh
