Essbase users with the Database Update application permission or higher can run the default calculation on the cube, but have no access to run any specific calculation scripts, unless assigned. Users with Database Manager permission or higher can run all calculations on the cube.

The Database Update application-level permission (and higher) supersedes assigned security filters, so give careful consideration before providing users with the application-level permissions.

Users can calculate the database using the CLI calc command, Smart View, Cube Designer, or the Essbase web interface.

To calculate a database using MaxL, you can use the Execute Calculation statement.
