Downloading Release Update Patches

Download and install Release Updates (RU) and Monthly Recommended Patches (MRPs) patches for your Oracle software after you complete your installation.

Oracle provides quarterly updates in the form of Release Updates (RU) and Monthly Recommended Patches (MRPs). Oracle no longer releases patch sets. For more information, see My Oracle Support Note 2285040.1.
Check the My Oracle Support website for required updates for your installation.
  1. Log in to the My Oracle Support website:
  2. In the My Oracle Support Support for Oracle Hardware, Software, and Managed Cloud services section, click Sign-in or create your Oracle account.

    Note:

If you are not a My Oracle Support registered user, then register.
  3. From the search bar, select Patches and Product Certification Matrix. The Patch Search window is displayed.
  4. To search for patches, in the Patch Search window, search by Patch Name or Number or Bug Number if you have it. Otherwise, search using the Product, Release, Platform, and Language criteria.
  5. Click Apply. The patch search results are displayed in the main window.
  6. Click the patch number in the Patch Name column to open the Patch details in a new window.
  7. Click Download to download the patch. Next, uncompress the Oracle patch updates that you downloaded from My Oracle Support.
  8. Click ReadMe.

The README page is displayed. It contains information about the patch that you just downloaded, and how to apply the patch to your installation.

Note:

The use of OPatch and OPatchAuto for out-of-place patching continues to be deprecated.

For patching in Oracle AI Database 26ai, Oracle recommends that you use out-of-place patching using Gold images to apply quarterly release updates (RUs). This deprecation does not affect in-place patching. If you want to perform in-place patching, then OPatch and OPatchAuto continue to be available for this purpose. The Oracle AI Database 26ai Free release is not supported for patching with RUs.
