Sell Subscription Associated to a Product

Oracle CPQ 26B expands product association capabilities beyond warranty/coverage services to include subscriptions (recurring service offerings). Now, products can be linked directly to subscriptions, ensuring that all active services related to a product are accurately tracked. Sales users can associate product to an item from the current quote, a prior booked quote, or an asset (when Standard ABO is enabled).

When a sales user selects a product and selects Associate Product from the Line Item Grid Actions menu, the Associate Product drawer opens.

The From Current Quote tab lists products that can be associated within the current quote. Sales users can select a product then click Associate Product to create the product association.

The From Prior Booked Quote tab lists products that can be associated from a prior quote. Sales users select the quote, select a product, and then click Associate Product to create the product association.

The From Asset tab is only displayed when Standard ABO is enabled. This tab lists assets that can be associated to a product. Sales users can select an asset then click Associate Product to create the product association.

Product Association Array Set

The standard process transaction line Product Association Set array (_productAssociationSet) defines attributes that maintain the relationship between a coverage or subscription product and the base product(s) it protects or extends.

  • Product Association Ref Type (_productAssociationSet_refType) The type of asset for the associated item.
  • Associated Transaction Number (_productAssociationSet_assocTransactionNumber) The number or public unique identifier of the transaction of the associated item.
  • Associated Transaction ID (_productAssociationSet_assocTransactionId) The Buy-side ID of the associated item. This is the internal identifier for a transaction within a CPQ site.
  • Associated Transaction Line Number (_productAssociationSet_assocTransactionLineNumber) The transaction line identifier of the associated item.
  • Associated Fulfillment Line ID (_productAssociationSet_assocFullfillmentLineId) The associated fulfilment line identifier of the associated item.
  • Associated Asset Key (_productAssociationSet_assocAssetKey) The asset key of the associated item.
  • Associated UOM (_productAssociationSet_assocUom) The unit of measure (UOM) of the associated item.
  • Associated Part Number (_productAssociationSet_assocPartNumber) The Part Number of the associated item.
  • Associated Part Display Name (_productAssociationSet_assocPartDisplayName) The Part Display Number of the associated item.
  • Associated Model Name (_productAssociationSet_assocModelName) The model name of the associated item.
  • Associated Item Is Model (_productAssociationSet_assocItemIsModel) Identifies if the associated item is a model.
  • Associated Item External Asset Reference (_productAssociationSet_assocItemExternalAssetRef) The external asset reference of the associated item.

This feature ensures services associated with products are represented uniformly in downstream systems for billing, asset management, and entitlement.

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips and considerations

Oracle CPQ 26B only supports standalone subscription product associations. BOM root/child item product associations are currently not supported.
