Guidelines for Avoiding Block Contention in Business Rules Included in the Operations Guide

Detailed information on avoiding block contention in business rule design and execution is now available in the Operations Guide. Block contention generally occurs when multiple operations try to update the same Essbase data block at the same time. Because Essbase must coordinate access to that block, one operation may have to wait while another finishes leading to slow performance.
