Element Upgrade Process Configuration Date Enhancement
When you run the Run Element Upgrade process, the process evaluates the maximum latest process date across payrolls in the legislative data group and the value of the “Date used by the element upgrade process” process configuration parameter.
If the configured date is earlier than the latest process date, or the parameter isn't set, the process uses the derived upgrade date. If the configured date isn't earlier, the process uses the configured date.
The process skips elements whose first effective start date is later than the applicable upgrade date and displays a message. The report output displays the date used to upgrade each row.
Example scenarios
Scenario 1
-
Upgrade Process Configuration parameter: 01-Jan-2026 or blank (a blank value defaults to 01-Jan-1951)
-
Latest process date across all payrolls: 30-Jun-2026
-
Elements: Ten elements exist as of 30-Jun-2026, and one element has a start date of 01-Aug-2026.
The upgrade uses 01-Jul-2026 for the ten existing elements. It skips the element that starts on 01-Aug-2026 and displays an informational message.
Scenario 2
-
Upgrade Process Configuration parameter: 01-Sep-2026
-
Latest process date across all payrolls: 30-Jun-2026
-
Elements: Ten elements exist as of 30-Jun-2026, and one element has a start date of 01-Aug-2026.
The upgrade uses 01-Sep-2026 for all 11 elements.
Scenario 3
-
Upgrade Process Configuration parameter: 01-Sep-2026
-
Latest process date across all payrolls: 30-Jun-2026
-
Elements: Ten elements exist as of 30-Jun-2026, and one element has a start date of 01-Nov-2026.
The upgrade uses 01-Sep-2026 for the ten existing elements. It skips the element that starts on 01-Nov-2026 and displays an informational message.
This enhancement lets organizations complete eligible element upgrades consistently while reducing the risk of incomplete upgrades, future-dated child objects, and unintended retroactive processing.
Steps to enable and configure
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips and considerations
- For date comparison, a blank Date used by the element upgrade process value is treated as 01-Jan-1951.
- If an element's first effective start date is later than the applicable upgrade date, the process skips the element and reports the result.
- For a skipped future-dated element, you can delete and recreate the element with the latest template.
