Using Default Values in a Transaction
To use default values in a transaction, please note the following guidelines:
-
Overriding the default values from project in the transactions is permissible.
-
Project defaulting takes precedence upon choosing a project in the transaction at the header level or line level.
-
Transactions are handled in Create, Edit, Copy, and Transform modes of UI and Create mode of other channels.
-
Based on the project selected at the header, the Department, Class, and Location fields at the header take default values of Project Classification Department, Project Classification Class, and Project Classification Location values from the project. When an item line is selected, it takes the Department, Class, and Location values from the Project Classification Department, Project Classification Class, and Project Classification Location values of the project.
-
For a transaction created by UI, if you select a project without the default values, the Department, Class, and Location fields remain empty at header level, but at line level they take the value from the item. In case of a transaction created by other channels, existing header values will remain.
-
To add multiple projects to the same invoice, add project to the line level.
To enable project field at line level:
-
Go to Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences.
-
Click the Items/Transactions subtab.
-
Check the Consolidate Projects on Sale Transaction box.
Based on the project selected, the Department, Class, and Location values are populated with the default values at the line level for the item.
Note:If the Update Header Based on Line box is checked in the Project Classification Preferences page, the Department, Class, and Location fields are also updated.
