Schedule Validation Rules

To create a new validation rule go to "Config" > "Validation" and then click on "New Period Rule".

Validation rules

Schedule Validation rules centre around how many of a particular employee you must require to be working at a certain time. You can set rules that will prevent printing, SMS, emailing or publishing a schedule if they are not met.

Rules are a set of criteria which must all be met before being able to publish a schedule.

To be able to set rules, please contact your store manager. You will be able to create any number of specific 'rules' for your company which help safeguard errors such as putting less than minimum employees on, or having proficient enough employees working during a specific time.

Rule Name

Rule name is fairly straight forward, type in the name of the validation rule.

Rule Details

Rule details focuses on how many employees are needed working, and whether the employees that fall under this rule have to be scheduled on between your set period of time, or the whole working day. You can choose to have more than, or less than an amount of employees working for this rule. Here you can also choose the maximum and minimum skill level of the employees for this rule. If you don't know what to choose then select "between Level 1 and" "level 10"

Next you will need to choose what Jobs fall under this Rule, the example below shows that the rule requires a "Bar" employee to be working, this may be due to the store selling products from a bar until close. To select a job click on the choice that you want (For multiple jobs hold down "ctrl" for Windows or "command" for Mac), or you can select the "Choose all" button.

You will need to then select the proficiency of the employees, this means that employees that work too efficiently (may mean that they are too expensive) or employees that aren't skilled enough are excluded from this rule if they are outside of the proficiency boundaries.

Things to know:

For example, you can set a rule which will enforce that at least 5 people are scheduled on during a Friday night, while having another rule alongside it needing 2 employees to be schedule on at all times.

You are able to add extra criteria to this, for example, if you would like at least two bartenders on at any time, along with one chef between 11-4 every Friday and Saturday, you would create one rule for the bartenders being schedule on at any time, and another rule for a chef needing to be on every Friday and Saturday between 11-4.

You are also able to go a step further and make sure employees above a certain level of proficiency or level of management are on during set times.

Validation rules

While rules are not necessary, they are as they will help safeguard against any errors or mistakes while writing up a schedule.
