Some government authorities establish tax regimes for the companies operating within their jurisdiction. A tax regime identifies the way taxes apply to a company or individual.

In Brazil, for example, the federal government created a tax regime named Simples Nacional. This tax regime is targeted at small businesses and offers the exemption from paying some taxes.

In NetSuite, you can create tax regime records and associate them with subsidiaries, vendors, or customers. For more information, see Associating Tax Regime and Line of Business With Subsidiaries, Customers, and Vendors.

To apply certain tax rules to companies or individuals that adhere to a specific regime, associate the tax regime with a tax determination rules record. For more information, see Creating Tax Determination Rules in the SuiteTax Latam Engine.

To create a tax regime:

  1. Go to Setup > Latam Tax Determination > Tax Regime > New.

  2. In the Name field, enter a name to identify the tax regime.

  3. In the Country field, select the country where the tax regime applies.

  4. Click Save.
