Using Classifications for Customers and Projects in NetSuite
Department, Class and Location classifications are not available for customer and project records as standard in NetSuite. However, you can create custom entity fields to use these classifications for customers and projects using a list/record field, if required.
If you use NetSuite OneWorld, subsidiary classification is available for employees, customers, and projects by default. You must assign a subsidiary to each entity record before you can enter transactions for the entity.
To use classifications for customers and projects in NetSuite:
-
In NetSuite, go to Setup > Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Entity Fields.
-
Enter a Label.
-
Select
List/Record
from the Type dropdown list. -
Select the List/Record.
-
To replicate an classification and apply it to customers or projects, select
Class
,Department
, orLocation
. -
To create a unique list of values, select
New
. The Custom List window appears. See Creating a Custom List (external link to NetSuite SuiteAnswers | Answer ID: 10069).
-
-
Check the Store value and Show in list boxes, to make a custom list available for other custom entity fields, or to show the field automatically in the list of records.
-
On the Applies to subtab, check the boxes for the record forms to which you want to add the custom entity field, then click Apply to Forms.
-
Click Save.
-
Make a note of the entity field ID. You will need it to configure the integration to import the NetSuite classification to a SuiteProjects Pro hierarchy integration in SuiteProjects Pro. See Importing or Mapping NetSuite Classifications to SuiteProjects Pro Hierarchies.
