Coying Rules to a Model

This feature is useful if you are creating a new model and want to include identical or similar rules from an existing model in the new model. You can select multiple rules to copy to a model.

Note:

If a rule uses a Model Context and the rule has dimension members that conflict with members in the target model, the rule is not copied, and an error displays in the Job Details log.

To copy rules to a model:

  1. From the Home page, select Modeling, and then Designer.

  2. Select the Mass Edit tab.

  3. Optional: Refine the rules displayed by searching for and filtering rules. See Filtering Which Rules Are Displayed.

  4. Select the desired rules, or select the checkbox by Name to select all the rules displayed on the Mass Edit tab after any filters have been applied.

  5. Click More Actions, and then select Copy.

  6. In the Copy Rules dialog box, select Model, and then enter the following information:
    • Model: Select the model to which you want to copy the rules.

    • Target Rule Set: Optional: If you want the rule in the new model to be assigned to a rule set that is different than the rule set in the original model, select the desired target rule set from the drop-down. If you do not select a target rule set, the rule will be assigned to the same rule set as in the original model.

    • Overwrite: Select to indicate that if a rule with the same name is already in the target model, then it will be overwritten by the rule being copied using its definition.

    • Comment: Enter a note or comment that will be displayed in the Job Details accessed from the Jobs console.

  7. Click Copy.

  8. Optional: Go to the Jobs console and verify that the rules were successfully copied.

The job is displayed in the Jobs console with a "Completed" or "Completed with Errors" status. You can select the job to see details about the job and troubleshoot any errors that may have occurred. See Viewing Rules Jobs.
