Setting Default POV for Private and Named Connections

You can now set a default POV in ad hoc grids for private connections and named connections.

Data source types: Oracle Essbase, Planning, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Tax Reporting

Once you have set the default POV, whenever you connect to the specific connection and open an ad hoc grid, it displays data for the default POV that you have set.

Note the following considerations while setting default POV:

  • The default POV is retained only for private connections and named connections that have been assigned a friendly name.
  • If you are using a shared connection or a temporary connection, then the default POV is retained only for the active session. If you close and reopen the sheet and connect to the same shared or temporary connection, the ad hoc grid does not appear with the default POV.
  • The default POV is applicable only for Standard mode ad hoc grids.

To set the default POV for a specific connection:

  1. Open a workbook and connect to the specific private or named connection for which you want to set the default POV.
  2. Open an ad hoc grid and select the desired POV values in the grid as per your requirement.
  3. From the Smart View ribbon, click Refresh.
  4. Now, from the Smart View ribbon, select Function, and then Manage POV.
    The POV Manager dialog appears.
  5. In the POV Manager dialog, click Set Active POV as Default.
The default POV that you set in the grid appears in the POV Manager dialog.
  6. Click Close to close the dialog.
  7. Now, close the workbook and open it again.
  8. Connect to the same named connection and place an ad hoc grid on the sheet.
Observe that the grid appears with the POV that you had set as default for the connection.
