Edit Files
If you have an app on your device that can edit a particular file type, you can open the file from Oracle Content in that other app to edit it.
To edit a file from Oracle Content:
- Open the file you want to edit.
- It's a good idea to lock the file before you edit it. That way other people know
the file is in use. In the toolbar at the bottom, tap
, and then tap Lock.
- Tap
, tap Open In..., and select the app on your device that you'll use to edit the file. The apps that are shown are those that can be used to edit a file of that type.
- Edit the file as needed.
- Depending on the app you chose for editing the file, you may need to use a menu choice in the app such as Open In..., Send a Copy, or another file sharing option such as a Files Location to send the file to Oracle Content. If you're offline, you can use one of those options after you're reconnected.
- Navigate to the folder where you want to store the file. You can save it in its old location (and create a new version) or you can save it as a new file in a different location.
- Tap Upload to copy the file to Oracle Content.
If you know you'll be offline soon (for example, if you're boarding a plane and using Airplane Mode), download the file to edit. Then you can work with it even if you're not connected to the Internet.
- View the file you want to edit.
- In the toolbar at the bottom, tap
, tap Save for Offline.
If you have the Microsoft Word app installed and you have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, you can open a Oracle Content document and edit that document directly from the Word app.
You must enable Oracle Content as a valid location in the iOS Files app before editing a file.
- In Word, tap Open and then tap More.
- Tap Browse.
- In the Locations dialog, turn on Oracle Content.
To edit a file using Microsoft Word:

- Tap More, then Locations.
- Choose the Oracle Content account you want to use from the list.
- Find the file you want to edit.
- After editing the file, tap Save to save it back to its original location or Save As to choose another location in Oracle Content.
