Stop a DB System
This article provides the details and procedure to stop a DB system.
Before you begin, review the following:
- DB system nodes are stopped individually.
- For multi-node RAC DB systems, you might need to stop only one node, for example, when proactively rebooting a node for scheduled maintenance.
- Stopping a node stops billing for all OCPUs/ECPUs associated with that node. Billing resumes when the node is restarted.
- Stopping a DB system stops ECPU billing. Infrastructure and storage charges for the VM.BaseDB.x86 shape continue until the DB system is terminated.
- After a node is restarted or rebooted, the floating IP address might take several minutes to update and appear in the Console.
Procedure
Perform the following steps in the Console:
- On the DB Systems list page, select the DB system that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the DB system, see List the DB Systems.
- On the DB system details page, select the Nodes tab to view the list of nodes.
- From the Actions menu of the desired node, select
Stop.
This action shuts down the node. After the node is powered off, the Start action is enabled.
