View a List of Remote Backups

Remote backups, also known as cross region backups, are additional backups that are stored in a different region than the source database. In case of a region failure, you can use this backup to recover your database. When you enable cross-region backups, a backup will be taken at the Autonomous Container Database (ACD) level. This backup includes the Autonomous Databases within the ACD and all archive logs. A second backup will be taken in the region that you've specified. The ACD backup can then be cloned into a different Autonomous Exadata VM Cluster (AVMC). You can view a list of remote backups from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console.

To create a remote backup, you must enable cross region backups for your Autonomous Container Database (ACD). See Edit Autonomous Container Database Backup Settings for instructions.

Procedure

  1. Go to Autonomous Database in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console.

  2. Click Remote backups under Autonomous Database resource types from the side menu.

The Remote backups page displays, showing the list of remote backups in your current compartment. You can optionally change the compartment to view a list of remote backups in that compartment.

Note:

After creating a remote backup, you can see the Remote backup region from the ACD Details page. You can also click this link to open the list of remote backups.

You can see the list of the following details for each Remote backup in the list:

  • Name of the resource
  • State of the resource such as Updating, Provisioning, Available, etc.
  • Resource type. Each remote backup will be an ACD.
