Edit or Clone a Clinical Document Architecture Document

You can edit an existing CDA document to update the name, description, and other properties. You can also clone a CDA document to create a copy of it.

Edit a CDA Document

  1. To edit a CDA document in a project:
    1. In the navigation pane, click Projects.
    2. Click the project in which to edit the CDA document.
    3. Click Healthcare Healthcare icon.
    4. Go to the CDA documents section.
    5. Hover over the CDA document to edit.
    6. Click Actions Actions icon, then select Edit.
  2. To edit a CDA document in a standalone environment:
    1. In the navigation pane, click Healthcare, then Schemas.
    2. Click the CDA document name to edit.
  3. Edit the document's name, description, schema, and identification expression and value, as necessary.


    The details page for the CDA document is shown. It includes labels for Identifier, Updated on, and Project at the top. Below this is the CDA document selection section. This section includes editable fields for name and description. Below this are the non-editable fields for Standard, Version, and Type. Below this are drop-down lists for Schema, Identification type. Below this are editable fields for Identification expression (XPath) and Identification value.

  4. Click Save.

Clone a CDA Document

  1. To edit a CDA document in a project:
    1. In the navigation pane, click Projects.
    2. Click the project in which to clone the CDA document.
    3. Click Healthcare Healthcare icon.
    4. Go to the CDA documents section.
    5. Hover over the CDA document to clone.
  2. To clone a CDA document in a standalone environment:
    1. In the navigation pane, click Healthcare, then Schemas.
    2. Hover over the CDA document to clone.
  3. Click Actions Actions icon, then select Clone to clone the CDA document.

    The Clone CDA document panel opens.

  4. Make any necessary updates, then click Clone.
