Understanding the Determinants
Determinants are key components that play a crucial role in determining emission factors during emission calculations. You use the Determinants program (P20S05) to create and manage these determinants. You must associate each determinant with a specific determinant type from UDC 20S/DT to define its category. The system stores this information in the Determinants table (F20S05).
For example, if your organization's emissions arise from the consumption of certain fuels, you can create fuels such as diesel, gasoline, and coal as determinants, and associate them with the Fuel Type category, which serves as the determinant type. Another example for this is a list of all vehicles, such as cars and trucks, that can be associated with the Vehicle Type category. These examples cover emissions under Scope 1.
For Scope 2 emissions, to record location-based emissions from purchased energy, you need to set up determinants for grid region and energy type, and then associate them to the Grid Region and Energy Type categories.
