Data Sources

The naming conventions for a data source are as follows:

• Limited to 30 characters.

• Case-sensitive.

Specific naming convention exceptions for the Client Access data source are as follows:

• Limited to 32 characters.

• Must begin with an alphabetic character.

• You cannot use the following characters:

• { }

• [ ]

• ( )

• ?

• *

• =

• !

• @

• ;

  Note:

  You must type the data source name before you can use the Client Access ODBC driver to access IBM i data.
