Events
Use events to track changes to resources within OS Management Hub.
There are two types of events:
- OS Management Hub Events: events reported within the service
- OCI Events: events emitted by OS Management Hub resources for the OCI Events service
Within this documentation, the term 'OS Management Hub events' refer to events reported within the OS Management Hub service, while 'OCI events' refer to events emitted by resources for the OCI Events service.
- What's the difference between OS Management Hub Events and OCI Events?
-
OS Management Hub events are distinct and separate from OCI events.
As you create or update resources in the service, OS Management Hub creates event resources that capture information about those actions. These events are specific to OS Management Hub. You can view events at the compartment level or the per-instance level. See Listing Events.
OCI events are emitted by resources from many services, including OS Management Hub. OCI events are structured messages that indicate changes in resources. The OCI Events service allow users to define rules to track OCI events to create automated workflows based on those changes. See Overview of Events.
OS Management Hub emits many types of OCI events for resources such as instances, software sources, and scheduled jobs. Additionally, each OS Management Hub event creation also emits a corresponding OCI event to the OCI Events service.
OS Management Hub Events
Use OS Management Hub events to monitor instances to help identify and debug errors, reboots, and changes made to instances in OS Management Hub.
OCI Events
OS Management Hub resources that emit events for the OCI Events service include:
- Events
- Lifecycle environments
- Managed instances
- Managed instance groups
- Scheduled jobs
- Software sources
You can create automation based on state changes of resources by using event types, rules, and actions. You can define rules that trigger a specific action when an event occurs. For more information, see Overview of Events and Get Started with Events. For information about managing rules for events, see Managing Rules for Events.
