Oracle Linux 7 (extended support) Image

The Oracle Linux 7 platform image is based on Oracle Linux 7 and can be used for Compute instances.

Oracle Linux platform images are released regularly to provide important and timely security and critical bug fixes. The image includes Oracle Ksplice preinstalled, which applies critical security patches to the kernel without requiring a reboot.

Creating an Instance

To create a Compute instance using a platform image, see Creating an Instance.

Default Software Repositories

When you create an Oracle Linux 7 Compute instance, the following repositories are enabled on the instance by default.

Note

Only the ELS repositories are updated with security and critical bug fixes because Oracle Linux 7 is in Extended Support. See Enabling the Oracle Linux 7 Extended Support Repository.
