Oracle Autonomous Linux Image

Use the Oracle Autonomous Linux image to reduce the complexity and overhead of common operating system management tasks, including automatic daily updates and monitoring of critical events.

Important

Autonomous Linux instances are managed by the Autonomous Linux service. Creating an Autonomous Linux instance automatically registers it with the service.

Autonomous Linux provides:

  • Automatic daily updates, including zero-downtime Ksplice updates for kernel, OpenSSL, and glibc libraries.
  • Monitoring for critical events, such as a kernel oops or kernel crashes, including collecting and submitting the messages and logs needed to debug and provide a root cause analysis of the event.

Mandatory Software Sources (Repositories)

When you create an Autonomous Linux instance, it gets registered with the Autonomous Linux service, and a minimum set of required software sources (repositories) are automatically attached to the instance. For more information, see Mandatory Software Sources.

To verify the required software sources (repositories) are attached to the Autonomous Linux instance:

sudo dnf repolist
