Creating a CPU Utilization Alarm

The following is an example task for creating a CPU utilization metric alarm.

  1. On the Clusters list page, select the cluster that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the cluster, see Listing Clusters in a Compartment.
  2. Select the node you want to create the alarm for.
  3. In the CPU utilization metric window, select Options and then select Create an alarm on this query.
  4. Fill in the following fields:
    • Alarm name: Non-optimal Alarm
    • Alarm severity: Warning
    • Alarm body: Non-optimal usage detected. An application or process might be consuming more CPU than usual.
    • Compartment (under Metrics): Select the compartment (Auto-populated with current compartment)
    • Trigger rule:
      • operator: between
      • Value: 60
      • Value: 80
      • Trigger delay minutes: 10
    • Destination service: Notification
    • Compartment (under Define alarm notifications select Destination): Select the appropriate compartment.
  5. Select Create topic and enter the following information:
    • Topic name: Operations Team
    • Topic description: Resource Monitoring Channel
    • Subscription protocol: Email
    • Subscription email: Enter an email address
    • Message format: End formatted messages
  6. Select Create topic and subscription.
  7. Select Repeat notification, and enter 24 hours.
  8. Select Enable this alarm.
  9. Select Save alarm.
