Note
Skip this step if your Big Data Service cluster version is 3.0.4 or later. The Big Data Service Version is displayed on the Cluster Information tab of the Cluster details page.

Access Apache Ambari.

From the side toolbar, select the ... icon in Services and then select Add Service.
The Add Service Wizard opens.

In the Choose Services step, select Ranger, and then select Next.

In the Assign Masters step, keep the default setting for Ranger and select Next.

In the Assign Slaves and Clients step, keep the default settings and select Next.

In the Customize Services step, ensure that service Ranger is selected.
- In the Ranger Admin tab:
- Ranger DB host: Enter the hostname of the first utility node where you installed Ranger.
- Ranger DB name: Enter ranger.
- Ranger DB username: Enter rangerdba.
- Ranger DB password: Enter rangerdba.
- Setup Database and Database user: Toggle to No.
- Select Test Connection. You should see a Connection OK message.
- In the Advanced tab:
- Under Admin Settings, create passwords for Ranger Usersync user's password, Ranger Tagsync user's password, and Ranger KMS keyadmin user's password.
- Under Advanced ranger-env, create a password for Ranger Admin user's password.

Select Next. In the Configurations screen, select Proceed Anyway.

In the Review step, select Deploy.

In the Install, Start and Test step, wait for the installation to complete successful, and then select Next.

In the Summary step, select Complete.

Select Restart and select Restart all affected. Select Confirm restart all.
