In the call flow, the SS7 initialDP event triggers Service Controller to send a Diameter Capabilities-Exchange Request (CER) to the OCS. The OCS responds with a Capabilities-Exchange Answer (CEA). The SS7 network generates an initialDP-CollectedInfo event which Service Controller mediates into a Diameter Credit-Control-Request (CCR) used by the OCS to initiate rating on the session. Service Controller converts the Credit-Control-Answer (CCA) from the OCS to an ApplyCharging event in the SS7 network.

As the call progresses, SS7 event reports generate additional CCRs and CCAs resulting in ApplyCharging SS7 events. Upon call termination, the final SS7 ApplyChargingReport triggers a final Diameter Ro rating event update leading to termination of the call.
