Chapter 3 What's New in MySQL Enterprise Backup 8.4?

MySQL Enterprise Backup 8.4 marks the start of a new series of LTS (Long Term Support) releases. MySQL Enterprise Backup 8.4 is recommended for use on production systems.

The MySQL Enterprise Backup.x LTS releases will focus on security and bug fixes while the next Innovation series will include new features.

Here is a summary of the major changes for MySQL Enterprise Backup going from series 8.0 to series 8.4:

Because the keyring_file and keyring_encrypted_file plugins have been removed from MySQL Enterprise Server 8.4.0, when backups with encrypted InnoDB tables of server using any keyring plugins are restored, the server is now going to start with component_keyring_encrypted_file, unless a keyring migration has been performed on the restored server.
