37 Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite Installation and Configuration

This chapter describes installation and configuration issues associated with Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite (Oracle ECM). It includes the following topics:

37.1 Installation and Configuration Issues

This section describes installation and configuration issues. It includes the following topic:

37.1.1 Downloading Software for Installing and Configuring Oracle ECM

You can download the software required for installing and configuring Oracle ECM from either of two Web sites:

  • Oracle E-Delivery

  • Oracle Technology Network (OTN)

37.1.1.1 Downloading Software from Oracle E-Delivery for Installing and Configuring Oracle ECM

You can use the Oracle E-Delivery Web site to download products for which you have purchased a license.

To download software from Oracle E-Delivery for installing and configuring Oracle ECM

  1. Go to the Oracle E-Delivery Web site at

    http://edelivery.oracle.comOpens a new window

  2. On the Welcome page, click Continue.

  3. Enter your user information, and click Continue.

  4. Select the Oracle Fusion Middleware product pack and your installation platform, and then click Go.

  5. From the list of media packs, select the one for Release 11.1.1.2.1, which includes Oracle ECM.

    For example, for a Microsoft Windows 32-bit platform, the description of the Release 11.1.1.2.1 media pack is Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows (32-bit). The part number is B55383-12.

  6. Click the Description link to display a list of downloadable ZIP files for the media pack.

    Each ZIP file has a unique part number.

  7. Click the Readme button at the top of the list for instructions on which files to download for your product licenses.

    For Oracle ECM, you need to download files for either or both of these products:

    • Oracle Imaging and Process Management

      • Oracle Imaging and Process Management and Information Rights Management Servers 11g (11.1.1.2.1), part number V19377-01

      • Oracle Content Server 10gR3 (10.1.3.3.3) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit), part number V13682-01

      • Content Server 10g Update Bundle for Imaging and Process Management 11g, part number V19379-01

    • Oracle Information Rights Management

      • Oracle Imaging and Process Management and Information Rights Management Servers 11g (11.1.1.2.1), part number V19377-01

      • Oracle Information Rights Management Desktop 11g (11.1.1.2.1) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit), part number V19378-01

You also need to download the following products for installing and configuring Oracle ECM:

  • Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.2) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit), part number V18591-01

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware Repository Creation Utility 11g (11.1.1.2.1) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit), part number V19381-01

If you are using Oracle I/PM with BPEL and AXF, preinstallation requirements include installing the following products:

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g (11.1.1.2.0), part number V18622-01

  • Oracle JDeveloper 11g and Oracle Application Development Framework 11g (11.1.1.2.0), part number V18633-01

    After JDeveloper is installed, you must install the Oracle SOA Suite Design-Time Components. Oracle SOA Suite is not automatically installed with Oracle JDeveloper. Before you can create a SOA application and project, you must install the SOA Suite extension for JDeveloper. For installation instructions, see Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle JDeveloper.

37.1.1.2 Downloading Software from OTN for Installing and Configuring Oracle ECM

You can download Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.2), Oracle Database, Repository Creation Utility, and Oracle ECM software from Oracle Technology Network (OTN).

To download software from OTN for installing and configuring Oracle ECM

  1. If you do not have Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.2) on your system, you can download it from the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Software Downloads page on OTN at

    1. Under Runtime Software, click All available platforms next to WebLogic Server 10.3.2 to go to the Oracle WebLogic Server Downloads page.

      Or you can go directly to this page at

    2. Download Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.2) for your platform.

  2. If you need a database, you can download Oracle database from Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Software Downloads page on OTN at

    1. Under Required Additional Software, click All available platforms next to Oracle Database to go to the Oracle Database Software Downloads page.

    2. Download Oracle Database 11g for your platform.

      Instead of Oracle Database, you can use SQL Server or DB2. For information about database versions supported by Repository Creation Utility and Oracle ECM, see the Oracle Fusion Middleware Supported System Configurations page on Oracle Technology Network at

  3. For the Oracle ECM media and the corresponding version of Repository Creation Utility, go to one of the following pages on OTN:

If you are using Oracle I/PM with Oracle BPEL Process Manager and Oracle Application Extension Framework (AXF), preinstallation requirements include installing Oracle SOA Suite 11g as well as Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle Application Development Framework 11g. 37.2 Documentation Errata

This section describes documentation errata. It includes the following topics:

37.2.1 Oracle Universal Content Management 10g for Oracle I/PM Repository

The location of the Content Server 10g Update Bundle for Imaging and Process Management 11g was not included in Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite, Section 1.3.5, Oracle Universal Content Management 10g for Oracle I/PM Repository, on page 1-6.

If you are installing Oracle Imaging and Process Management (Oracle I/PM), it requires Oracle Universal Content Management (Oracle UCM) 10gR3 (10.1.3.3.3)), also referred to as Oracle Content Server 10gR3, to be installed as the Oracle I/PM Repository. After installing Oracle Content Server 10gR3, you need to update the system with the Content Server 10g Update Bundle. Both are required for Oracle UCM 10g to work with Oracle I/PM 11g.

You can download both Oracle Content Server 10gR3 and the Content Server 10g Update Bundle from Oracle E-Delivery or Oracle Technology Network (OTN). After you deploy Oracle I/PM to an Oracle WebLogic Server Managed Server, by creating or extending a WebLogic Server domain, you need to upgrade the JDK version of your Oracle Content Server 10gR3 (Oracle UCM) installation to the same JDK 1.6 version that Oracle I/PM uses. This is the JDK version that you specified for the Oracle I/PM Managed Server on the Configure Server Start Mode and JDK screen of the Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard. For information about changing the JDK version that Oracle Content Server 10gR3 uses, see Oracle Universal Content Management Content Server Installation Guide, version 10gR3, for your operating system.

37.2.2 Location of setNMProps Script for Node Manager Configuration

The path name to the setNMProps script is incorrect in the "Starting Node Manager" section in Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite Section 7.3, on page 7-3, and in Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite, Section 1.7.5, on page 1-9. In both places, the text currently states this:

"On a UNIX operating system, run this script:

ECM_ORACLE_HOME/common/bin/setNMProps.sh

On a Windows operating system, run this script:

ECM_ORACLE_HOME\common\bin\setNMProps.cmd"

Instead, the text should state this:

"On a UNIX operating system, run this script:

MW_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin/setNMProps.sh

On a Windows operating system, run this script:

MW_HOME\oracle_common\common\bin\setNMProps.sh"

37.2.3 Correction to Instructions for Setting AES Key Store Password on a UNIX System

The instructions for setting the AES key store password on a UNIX system are incorrect in Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite Section 6.1.2.4, "Setting Passwords for the Key Store," on page 6-6. The text currently states this:

"On a UNIX operating system:

connect('username','password','t3://adminServerHost:adminServerPort')
createCred("IRM","keystore:irm.jks","dummy","password")
createCred("IRM","key:irm.jceks:oracle.irm.wrap","dummy","password")"

In the text, the first createCred command should be as follows, with jceks instead of jks:

createCred("IRM","keystore:irm.jceks","dummy","password")
