Start Managed Servers in Admin mode

Before you begin

Start the domain's Administration Server.
Specify the Administration startup mode. See Specify a startup mode.

You can start a server instance so that at the end of its startup cycle, the server is in the ADMIN state. In this state, WebLogic Server is up and running, but available only for administration operations, allowing you to perform server and application-level administration tasks without risk to running applications. For more information, see ADMIN State. For command information, see Start in Admin.

To start Managed Servers in the ADMIN state:

In the left pane of the Console, expand Environment and select Servers.
In the Servers table, click the name of the server instance you want to start in the ADMIN state.
Select Control > Start/Stop.
In the Server Status table, select the check box next to the name of the server instance and click Start.
On the Server Life Cycle Assistant page, click Yes to confirm.

To view status information related to this task, click the Task link in the Status of Last Action column.

After you finish

When you are ready for the server to receive other types of requests, you resume it as described in Resume a server.
