The following features are new in BEA SNMP Agent 2.1:
The command-line -c option enables you to run only one Tuxedo or WLE SNMP agent on the master node of a Tuxedo or WLE domain (application) to simplify management of multiple-node domains, and to enable data collection from hardware platforms not directly supported by the BEA SNMP Agent software. When the -c option is specified, the agent becomes central for the entire domain and is enabled to gather information from all nodes involved in the domain.
Previously, with the BEA Manager product, Tuxedo SNMP agents had to run on every Tuxedo node of a multiple-node Tuxedo domain to collect and send the management information to the SNMP manager application. Now, with BEA SNMP Agent 2.1, you have the option of running only one agent on one node (the master node) for full functionality support. When this option is selected, BEA SNMP Agent 2.1 collects information from the non-master nodes using Tuxedo's own mechanism for distributed data collection, the Tuxedo Management Information Base.
